Parent Consultation Evenings and Academic Review Days

There are currently three opportunities throughout the year where parents can meet staff to discuss student progress and identify the next steps in their learning. These Parent Evenings, held once per term, are under review however and the likelihood is that we will be moving to formal academic review days in the new academic year.

Regular, informal contact

We maintain high levels of contact with parents and carers to discuss progress and issues of importance about their child's welfare. We encourage parents to contact their child’s Personal Coach by telephone or by email at any time if they have any concerns.

Helping you help your child

We welcome parental contact and involvement and want to support parents so that they are able to play an active role in their child's learning and personal development outside of the home.

All students entering Year 10, and their parents or carers, are asked to sign a Home-Academy Agreement which encapsulates and formalises the agreement between key stakeholders. We place a strong emphasis on the document and hope that all families seeking a place at Barnfield Studio School will see it as important.

Attendance and Punctuality

One matter over which we rely heavily on parental support is attendance and punctuality to school. If holidays are taken without the School's agreement, the absences will be declared 'unauthorised' and parents will be liable to a Fixed Penalty Notice.

We do not tolerate lateness, and students who harm their education by being late are dealt with under our discipline procedures.  Parents are fully involved in this, as parents are responsible for ensuring correct attendance.
